«Musicircus Open air 2011»: an outdoor celebration of music, a grand opening for this edition of “Dimitria” festival. This is a project based on John Cage’s Musicircus, a pioneering aleatoric music composer. Musicians of the city of Thessaloniki, representing different genres of music, unite their forces, playing all together at the same time! This “musical exhibition” is being hosted in the courtyard and lobby of the new, stunning Thessaloniki Concert Hall. The purpose of this ground-breaking experiment is to stimulate awareness and provoke coexistence of diverse musical and social elements. The visitors of “Musicircus” are free to wander around the bands and to choose where to focus at any time. The “Musicircus” is here to unite the sounds of the city, the musicians and the audience, producing a new tune: the “music of the city”.
